Session fees

Know the cost before you book.

The initial consultation is the first full therapy appointment, not a short discovery call. It gives you and Amber time to explore what brings you to therapy and whether working together feels right.

If you only need to check a brief practical point before booking, a free 10-minute Q&A is available.

Frequently asked questions

Before you take the first step.

What happens before the first session?

Amber sends an assessment form, GDPR information and a working agreement. Completing these in advance helps make the first 50-minute session as useful as possible.

What is the Q&A for?

It is a brief call for an initial practical question or to check whether booking the paid initial consultation feels appropriate. It is not a therapy session or full assessment.

How long are sessions and how often do they happen?

Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly. Many clients begin with six sessions and then review progress with Amber. Therapy can be short-term, long-term or open-ended.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes. Amber will not share what you discuss without your consent, except in rare circumstances involving risk of harm to you or someone else. Where possible, any need to share information would be discussed with you first.

How does online or telephone therapy work?

Online sessions use Microsoft Teams, with the camera optional. Telephone sessions can use WhatsApp call or a standard phone call. You will need a private place to speak.

What will be shared with a parent or guardian?

For young people, confidentiality boundaries and the form of parent or guardian updates are discussed before therapy starts. What is appropriate depends on age, need and safety.

What if I need to cancel or I am late?

Please give at least 7 days’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Less notice may mean the full fee applies. If you are late, the session will still end at the original time.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

You do not need to be certain before you start. The initial consultation is a chance to explore what you need, ask questions and notice whether the working relationship feels like a good fit.

Is this a crisis service?

No. Sessions are by appointment. If there is immediate risk, call 999 or go to A&E. For urgent emotional support, call Samaritans on 116 123 or text SHOUT to 85258.
